On behalf of Randstad we’d like to once again thank you for attending the AB+F Randstad Leader’s Lecture Series 2011 featuring Phil Chronican, CEO of ANZ. Phil was a highly engaging guest speaker and gave an insightful presentation into the key driving factors behind the Australian property market.
Despite challenges the imbalance between supply and demand has created, the next phase of Australia’s growth remains promising. Although predicting interest rates may rise by another 1% and highlighting the fluctuation in consumer confidence, Phil was quick to point out positives and the unique nature of the Australian economy, reinforcing comparisons between the US housing bubble and the Australian market should not be made. While our future is not without its challenges, the Australian landscape appears to be far more stable and robust than our counterparts ever were.
These points are currently reflected in job creation and Australian labour market movements. In the last six months, we have seen a 28% uplift in jobs being advertised across the board and our recent Randstad Workmonitor shows 11% of Australians are actively looking for a new job. The Randstad World of Work Report – a business leader’s employment trends resource, will be released in August, further highlighting changes in the workforce and in human capital issues, and giving insights into the key factors shaping the Australian employment market.
